Presenting Daniel Blackball Alexander's Rail Land Poster, and our sponsors

RAILLAND_WEB.png

Daniel Blackball has imagined Rail Land as a poster - and I think it’s one of his best. To make it hard on himself, he opted not to include trains in the image. I love how this image has captured both a sense of momentum and meditation at once, and the setting reminds me of the chopped up landscape of the lower half of Te Ika A Māui - the same landscape our 19th and 20th century New Zealanders cut these railway lines through.

Also, we’re proud to welcome new sponsors and supporters, Phantom Billstickers and Hocken Collections to this tour, along with Dunedin Railways. Phantom have a thing for poetic and practical infrastructure, and we’ll be working with them to make sure this tour has as much visual power as it can. More details in coming weeks.
